THE AUTONOMY DILEMMA

Abstract

The present article aims at analysing the path taken by the brazilian foreign policy between the period immediately before the entrance of Brazil in the 2o World War and the consolidation of the new structure of the International System of the after-war, already in the period of the Cold War. Special attention will be given here to the transition and weakening of the brazilian diplomacy’s capacity of bargaining regarding Washington, keeping in mind the transformations undergone by the structure of the system.
