Entrepreneurial ecosystems and the role of Dutch higher education
The case of Utrecht University

Ecossistemas empreendedores (EEs) têm recebido atenção crescente tanto na academia quanto entre os formuladores de políticas. As instituições de ensino superior (IES) são consideradas algumas das organizações mais impactantes nos EEs. Além de seus papéis tradicionais de pesquisa e educação, espera-se que as IES sejam participantes ativos no fornecimento regional de atividades de apoio à criação de novos empreendimentos na sociedade, tornando-se universidades empreendedoras (UEs). Apesar do número crescente de estudos sobre UEs, ainda há espaço para aprendizado a partir de estudos de caso, especialmente quando focados em universidades líderes intimamente ligadas aos EEs regionais. Este é o caso da Universidade de Utrecht, na Holanda. Assim, o foco deste estudo foi descrever o papel dessa universidade, através de sua oferta de uma ampla variedade de atividades empreendedoras no ecossistema empreendedor da região de Utrecht.
