POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE REPERCUSSIONS IN PUBLIC INNOVATION POLICIES

Abstract

This study aims to explore the possible conditions that most contribute to the success or failure of public innovation policies inspired by the principles of Intelligent Specialization (IS). A qualitative research approach was used, employing questionnaires and interviews for data collection, and fsQCA and thematic content analysis for data analysis. The main analyses highlighted the conditions that most contributed to promising IS results, while the interviews allowed for a deeper understanding of possible reasons for certain unsatisfactory IS results, as indicated by fsQCA.
