Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The contribution is original and unpublished and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise it shall be justified in “Comments to the editor”.

     

  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word format, RTF or OpenOffice.

     

  • Whenever possible URLs for the references have been informed.

  • The text is simple-spaced, using Times New Roman font size 12; uses italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); figures and tables are placed within the text, not at the end of the document as attachments.

  • The text follows the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

  • In case of submission to a section with peer review (eg. articles), the instructions available on Ensuring blind peer review were followed.

  • Each author may submit at most two (2) articles per year in the Journal.

  • The article can be signed by at most 5 (five) authors

Author Guidelines

MS Word text editor, version 6 or higher;

  • All manuscripts submitted must be originals, which have not been published elsewhere, from 40,000 to 80,000 characters (with spaces).
  • Paper size A4
  • Margins: top (3 cm), bottom (2 cm), left (3 cm), right (2 cm);
  • Simple Space
  • . No extra spacing between paragraphs;
  • Alignment justified without indentation of paragraphs;
  • Times New Roman font size 12;
  • The first page of the manuscript should contain:
  1. Title, with no more than eight words in capitals and in bold (in the original language, in English and Portuguese);
  2. Summary in the original language with up to 1,500 characters, without space, containing objectives, methods, results and conclusion of the work, without paragraphs and justified;
  3. Minimum of three and maximum of five key words in the original language aligned to the left;
  4. Abstract in English, including key words, with up to 1,500 characters, without space, containing the field of study, objectives, methods, results and conclusions of the work, without paragraphs and justified;
  5. Abstract in Portuguese, if the original language is not Portuguese, including keywords, with up to 1,500 characters, without space, containing objectives, methods, results and conclusion of the work, without paragraphs and justified;
  • After that the text should start;

- Graphs, figures and/or photographs must be submitted in black and white, clear and contrast, scanned, inserted in the text after their citations and also in a separate file, saved in extension "tif" with a resolution of 300 dpi;

- Symbols and mathematical formulas should be made in processor that allows formatting for Page Maker, without losing their original forms;

  • References should be cited in the text indicating the surname, year and page of publication. The References should follow the specifications adopted by the ABNT and be listed alphabetically at the end of the article.
  • Footnotes must be submitted at the end of the text, numbered in sequence, before the references;
  • Attachments, if any, should be placed immediately after the references;
  • Diagrams and tables must have the title above them and the source underneath them, and be placed throughout the text, as they are mentioned;
  • If the article contains photographs, graphs, figures, symbols and formulas, these must comply with the following standards:

It is mandatory when saving all files in Word, that the author(s) delete any denomination relating to his/her/their name(s) that may be included in the properties of each file (file/properties/summary).

Authors retain the copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication with simultaneously license under the Creative Commons Attribution License, permitting sharing the paper with acknowledgment of its first publication in this journal.
