The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) is accelerating the pace of digital transformation within knowledge-based economy organizations. Developing a digital transformation strategy aimed at reimagining the business model and organizational processes to enhance customer experiences through digital technologies is a top priority in the business world. The scarcity of leadership skills required by the 4IR, which prioritize cognitive and interpersonal abilities over managerial skills, poses a significant barrier to achieving sustainable digital transformation in organizations. To address this challenge, this study outlines the knowledge, skills, and attitudes and values that define Leadership 4.0 competencies from literature findings. Additionally, it presents a case study focused on identifying deficiencies pertaining to the human aspect within the work environment of two teams at a large software industry firm, and subsequently offers recommendations based on the specified Leadership 4.0 Competencies to mitigate these shortcomings and strengthen team-specific skills.
