Abstract

This article summarizes the main points of a research that analyzed how charismatics perceive themselves in the field of power relations with society in their discourses on sexuality. As for the performance of these subjects in politics, it was understood that they are categorized as social movements (GOHN, 2000). In order to understand the speeches coming from the RCC as a social movement, the thinking of a sexuality device was used (FOUCAULT, 1988), in which this movement builds its discourses and names a possible sexuality. These discourses build, in the body, a gender performance (BUTLER, 2003) while they reproduce a taboo in fundamentalist religious circles. For field study, participant observation and interviews were carried out. The content analysis of the subjects' discourse built the last stage of the research, taking into account the subjectivity of the subjects (GOLDENBERG, 2004). In the evaluation of the interviews, it was noticed that there are pressures in the daily lives of charismatic young people to follow a religious and cultural morality where chastity stands out as a major foundation and a negotiation between young people and the Christian values they live with.
