This text, thought of as an experience report, analyzes the influence of the media on the process of acceptance of children's curly hair, highlighting the importance of representation for building the identity and self-esteem of black children. He discusses how media can reinforce stereotypes and unattainable beauty standards, as well as addressing the lack of diversity in television programming. The research also explores the phenomenon of the "dictatorship of curls", which pressures individuals with naturally curly hair to follow conventional beauty standards. Finally, photographs of black children dressed as historically white characters are presented, with the aim of challenging stereotypes and promoting representation.
