Abstract

The science, technology and innovation diaspora represents the gathering of highly skilled migrants abroad. The structuring of diasporic networks allows the exchange of contacts and experiences between such people, and strengthens relations between their country of origin and the country in which they live. The aim of this study is to understand the profile and possibilities of international collaboration of the skilled Brazilian diaspora, in order to gather subsidies for public policies to engage with the diaspora. Conducted through an electronic survey of 994 people, the main results of the research were a sample whose main link with the outside world is through academia, with considerable rates of interaction with Brazil, even though there are difficulties in this process.
