Msaho: a poetic manifesto and the new direction of Mozambican literature

The article analyzes the importance of the poetry journal Msaho in consolidating two fundamental axes of Mozambican poetry, as highlighted by Ana Mafalda Leite. On one hand, a universalizing poetics linked to the Presencista movement; on the other hand, poetry focused on African identity with strong social engagement. More than a publishing platform, Msaho established itself as a literary manifesto, setting principles that redirected local literature. Furthermore, its editorial approach enabled critique and reflection on the texts of its time, standing out as a milestone in the literary history of Mozambique.
