Focusing on As Duas Sombras do Rio, As Visitas do Dr. Valdez and Crónica da Rua 513.2, we aim to demonstrate how childhood has two types of functions in the aesthetics of João Paulo Borges Coelho. Both retrospective and prospective, pointing to the fleeting singularity as well as to the constant oppression, the representation of childhood in these novels connects to a specific and disenchanted view on History.Downloads
