Abstract

This article proposes to study the short story written by Raul Leal and pu­blished in 1915 under the title “Atelier” in the Orpheu review. In order to outline what the Demonism is, we shall analyze its fantastic aspect in con­nection with occultism and madness. Afterwards, the sexual deviances expressed in the narrative will be examined. All this study attempts to highlight the poe­tic proposed by the author, based on Desire and Pain.
