The Portuguese work Uso errado da vida by Paulo Rodrigues Ferreira: a proposal for the analysis of characters and their themes as contemporary index

Abstract

Contemporary literary critics have played an important role in the process of recognizing and valuing recently published Portuguese works. Such contributions guide and mobilize reflections about the contemporary literary narrative process, seeking to promote the insertion of these brand new works, including in the academic environment. From certain theoretical and conceptual contributions about the contemporary term and the analysis of the characters inserted in the narrative, the article aims to present some aspects of the work Uso errado da vida, by the Portuguese writer Paulo Rodrigues Ferreira. Full of representations and motivated by recurring themes in the present time, such as betrayal, depression, suicide and the character’s apathy towards life, this narrative deserves due attention.
