É professor visitante na Universidade de Búfalo em Nova York. É doutorado em Literatura Brasileira e Portuguesa pela Universidade da Califórnia em Santa Barbara. Desenvolve pesquisas sobre poesia brasileira e portuguesa moderna e contemporânea e sobre a pedagogia no ensino da língua e literatura.
