Maternidade solo: escolha ou condição?

Abstract

This work analyzes elements when solo motherhood is a condition or choice. This is a descriptive, analytical research, with a quantitative and qualitative approach that analyzed field research data from two projects: “Parenting Planning” and “Families and Vulnerabilities”. For the first survey, 2,196 questionnaires were applied in the State of Paraná. For the second survey, 28 interviews, in five Brazilian cities. Regarding solo motherhood, it can be seen that for a portion of women with greater social and financial autonomy, this can be a choice, however, in the context of more vulnerable populations, solo motherhood is a condition, not a project.
