This article aims to categorize how gender and race topics were reported by the Porto Alegre City Council Press Room between 2021 and 2022. A thematic analysis was carried out with news that served as proxy for the institutional debate of the municipal Legislative branch. For gender, the two main themes were: Public policies and women's rights; and Political, social and cultural representation of women. For race, the main themes were: Black political and social representation; and Policies to promote racial equity. Despite of a larger representativeness of gender and race among parliamentarians, we verified a low production of content and law proposals about these topics.
