The backyards, biocultural heritage, contribute to the maintenance of the ways of life and cultural diversity of groups and help in the conservation of biodiversity. A territory for domestic and social living, it is also a place for planting species with different purposes, among them ritualistic use. This study conducted in three backyards in the municipality of Miguel Pereira (RJ) maintained by women who act as prayer and blessing practitioners within Umbanda inventoried 25 species of cultivated plants, native and exotic.
