On Old age and female protagonism: issues og gender and generation

Authors

Abstract

This article discusses how the gender and generation categories are important markers for understanding the life trajectory of elderly women. We put into dialogue the strand of generational studies, anchored in the thought of Karl Mannheim, and the gender approach, which has the works of Joan Scoot as a reference. We also discussed how research on aging makes use of these productions on generation and gender to understand female aging. The empirical research that supports this article included five interviews with women who are over 60 and who keeps an active public live.
