The work analyzed how the Brazilian academic field has approached the issue of sexting and the unauthorized disclosure of intimate images. A state of the art was undertaken from the 30 theses and dissertations published about the subject, representing the fields of Law, Social Sciences, Education, Health, Communication and Languages and Psychology. Heterogeneous views were observed within the same fields of knowledge, especially regarding the valuation of the practice of sexting and the inclusion or not of the gender approach and regarding the opposing perspectives on the possibility of autonomy of women who practice sexting and its political effects.
