Resumo

The review of the book in question explores the presence of disabilities and diversities in the context of basic education, highlighting how these fundamental concepts in contemporary times are reinterpreted according to people's perceptions of their differences. Based on research, the work emphasizes the interconnection between accessibility and inclusion, clarifying that, although often used interchangeably, they are distinct terms. The author argues that inclusion, often considered self-explanatory, requires a specific understanding to truly progress towards inclusive education.

Through specific cases and current debates, the book illustrates how differences, when embraced with openness and respect for diversity, contribute to a comprehensible and welcoming educational environment. However, the author warns that, without such respect, these differences can be reduced to processes that marginalize and diminish. Inclusion is presented as an essential dimension of coexistence in school, emphasizing the importance of promoting a shared environment for everyone, where diversity is valued, and differences are seen as an integral part of school life.
