Abstract

The management of sustainability risks is a fundamental element for organizations today, being decisive for business success. The objective of this research is to contribute to the improvement of knowledge about sustainability risks in supply chains through a literature review and based on organizational theories, identify lenses to support the analysis of these risks' contextual aspects. Companies generally do not have the ability to manage all the points in their supply chain. In this sense, a study on organizational theories will allow for a discussion of theoretical lenses for understanding aspects of sustainability risks in supply chains, involving institutional, cultural, and ethical aspects, among other organizational theories. Organizational theories provide a valuable source of research on sustainability. There are opportunities for research with theories already applied or to be developed. The study offered a view of the management of sustainability risks in the supply chain, with facilitators and barriers to an adequate management of threats in the context of these chains, as well as possible theories that can help in the implementation of sustainability in organizations and their chains. This study contributes to the literature, in less explored themes, presenting knowledge about sustainability risks in supply chains through lenses of some of the available organizational theories.
