After all, what happens when the stereotype decides to speak? Does it speak with its own voice or a dubbed one?

This article analyzes the work Aparição de Partes de uma Parte das Masculinidades Embucetadas a Olho Vivo (2024), which uses urban visual practices as a critical and experimental methodology to question gender norms and stereotypes surrounding dissident masculinities. Drawing from transfeminism, queer theory, and Latin American affirmative policies, the work throws penile prosthetics into public space to literalize the voice of the stereotype that has long suggested what “Embucetadas” (Pussey) Masculinities carry “between” their legs—thus opening space for another question: is this gesture repetition or difference? Without aiming for a definitive answer, the text unfolds this provocation through three “modes of appearance” that, by sharing the discomfort, activate old memories and establish “new” presences—including within dreamlike spaces—challenging the boundaries of the body, the norm, sexual politics, and the normative gaze across urban and contemporary contexts in Mexico and Brazil.
