Abstract

Stemming from an investigation into the public image of occupations on digital platforms, this paper explores the work of four doctors who have become influencers. It aims to identify the ways in which these individuals perform authority and how they engage with platforms to gain visibility. The analysis draws on a methodological template inspired by netnography (Amaral

et aliae

, 2016; Kozinets, 2002), followed by performance analysis, as well as the application of theoretical operators such as platformization and visibility. The hypothesis is that these actors negotiate professional and aesthetic values that consolidate certain genres, in order to perform algorithmic authority. For this article, the focus is on Instagram.
