This text analyzes the challenges of the Tenejapaneco legal system in the context of strengthening ethnic demands and an organized indigenous movement. The Mexican government has lost control over local economic processes due to global influences, giving up space to local forces and allies. Furthermore, it is clear that a wealth concentrating model drives strong state social control, justified by means that refute the perception of insecurity and promote the creation of more polices, militarization and control over the indigenous communities of Chiapas.
