GENDER AND LAW IN TALES MISS ALGRAVE AND PRAIA MAUÁ DE CLARICE LISPECTOR

Abstract

In this paper we analyze the problem of gender through the stories "Miss Algrave" and "Praça Mauá", written by Clarice Lispector, published in 1974 in the book "A Via Crucis do Corpo". Therefore, the first part of the report presents brief understanding of the emerging field of study in Brazil, "Law and Literature", agreeing the importance it attaches to literary texts in legal studies. Subsequently, it is the analysis of gender as social construction and the way in which power relations that structure society impact the binary division of genres. Finally, is dedicated to examining the characters of the stories and the way they operate in the questioning and deconstruction of female and male ideals.
