Abstract

ABSTRACT: In this article, we propose the discussion that university extension has a centrality in the accomplishment of the university tripod: teaching, research and extension, regarding the accomplishment of the social function of the public university. Through an analysis based on the Marxist tradition, it is understood that through popular education it is possible for the university to contribute to the struggle for the right to the city of workers living in the peripheries and favelas, connecting with their real demands.

Author Biography

Eblin Farage, Universidade Federal Fluminense

Graduated in Social Work from Universidade Federal Fluminense (1998), Master from the Postgraduate Program in Social Work at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2006) and PhD in Social Work from the Postgraduate Program at UERJ (2012). Associate Professor at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), where she teaches classes in the area of ​​Fundamentals of Professional Work at undergraduate level and is a member of the Post-Graduate Program in Social Service and Regional Development (PPGSSDR) . Researcher in the areas of Urban Question - with an emphasis on the theme of favelas and popular spaces -, Urban Social Movements, Higher Education and Popular Education.
Coordinator of the Center for Studies and Research on Favelas and Popular Spaces - NEPFE.
Fotografia da capa: Paulo Barros Fotógrafo formado pela Escola de Fotógrafos Populares em 2009 e pelo Curso de Formação em Educadores da Fotografia em 2010. Acompanha a banda Confronto em tour com o álbum Imortal desde 2013. Integrante do Coletivo Multimídia Favela em Foco. De 2011 á 2013, ministrou oficinas de fotografia no Ponto de Cultura Porto Aberto à Memória viva, que funciona dentro da companhia Ensaio Aberto na Zona Portuária do Rio. De novembro de 2014 á Janeiro de 2017 integrou o quadro de fotógrafos da OS Viva Rio e do projeto Viva Favela. Participou das exposições coletivas “Caçadores de Sonhos”, Galeria 535, em 2010, e “Prazer, sou do Povo”, no CCMLSL, em Santa Tereza, em 2011, "3 anos de Favela em Foco" Galeria 535, em 2012, dos livros "Imagens do Povo" 2012, "Nos" 2015 e "Amaro da Maré" 2016.
