Abstract

The following text uses the experience report about two activities that took place in a public school of the federal basic education network in Rio de Janeiro. The first was the opening event of the 2014 academic year, which featured the master class of Professor Dr. Kabengele Munanga – author of several works on racial relations in the country. The second one, which, in a way, contradicted the objectives of the first activity, was a literature project for children on a campus of the institution whose central work was “The adventures of Pedrinho”, by Monteiro Lobato. It was possible to notice that the lecture given did not have the impact expected by the group committed to an anti-racist education in the institution, generating a cooling of the enthusiasm generated at the beginning of the 2014 school year. The objective of this experience report is to gather some analyzes about the facts that occur between the two activities mentioned, corroborating the understanding of how racism operates even in the apparent attempt to combat it.
