Girls wear pink, boys wear blue and conservatism wears a uniform: The family agenda in the Bolsonaro government and its consequences in education

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the configurations and impacts of the family agenda in the successive attacks on legal systems and public education. It starts from an analysis of the performance of the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights (MMFDH), under the command of Minister Damares Alves, and the possibility of this management, and the project to which it was affiliated, in the field of education. In this case, there is an overvalued presence of the family for social reproduction, to the detriment of the State, which represents a setback in several structuring guidelines, giving space for the defense of the project of ultra-conservative proposals such as combating the “gender ideology” and defending the of the single family model. This perspective is not at the center of the new right agenda, materialized by the election of President Jair Messias Bolsonaro, who has his hand launched, through the MMFDH, of a series of public policies called family members with problems in different fields. We consider that a political-pedagogical grammar based on fascism, moral panic and the dismantling of the State, has repercussions on education. To meet the proposed objectives, a literature review was carried out on the main categories addressed, and a documentary analysis of normative acts and institutional documents of the MMFDH.
