Abstract

Este artigo analisa a organização econômica do território de Juruti a partir da instalação de um grande projeto minerador e o impacto causado numa cidade ribeirinha, Juruti-Pará. Demonstra a mudança de funcionalidade das atividades econômicas a partir da exploração da bauxita por uma grande empresa internacional segundo o modelo de produção vigente na região Amazônica. Modelo este que gerou e gera mais pobreza do que multiplicou e multiplica a riqueza de seus habitantes, aumentando o desequilíbrio entre os municípios que não possuem grandes projetos mineradores em seus territórios.
