This paper aims to examine the transition from the object-king —the automobile, a concept developed by Henri Lefebvre—to the emergence of a new object-king: smartphone. By investigating the historical circumstances surrounding urban expansion in Paris—marked by accelerated urbanization, the expansion of the periphery, and its increasing distance from the city center—the necessity of automobiles and public transportation became paramount. This process continues with new developments: alongside the automobile, the smartphone has become central to urban life. Applications such as Google Maps, gig work platforms, communication tools, e-commerce, social networks, and sales mapping, all integrated with the automobile, reshape this phenomenon in contemporary urbanity. This study aims to demonstrate this transformation, analyzing the phenomenon through the lens of Henri Lefebvre’s theoretical framework.
