Abstract

The central aim of the present study is to stress and explore the role of metaphor in the constitu­tion of grammatical constructions. The theoretical discussion here developed has as its basis the constructionist paradigm (use-based models of Construction Grammar - GOLDBERG, 1995, 2006; CROFT & CRUSE, 2004; LANGACKER, 1999, 2007; SALOMÃO, 2006, 2007) and seeks endorsement in a case study on the superlative negative constructions of NPIs in Portuguese language.

É professora da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, atuando no curso de graduação em Letras e no PPG Linguística nas linhas de pesquisa Linguística e Cognição e Linguística e Ensino de Língua. Dentre suas publicações mais recentes estão as obras Linguística e Cognição, 2005 (org.), Reflexão metalinguística no ensino fundamental, 2006 e Construções do Português do Brasil, 2009 (org.).
