Abstract

We aim to present some specific traces of Brazil´s and Moçambique´s linguistic reality, while, at the same time, taking into consideration the historical memory that grounds the linguistic dimension of both societies.

Doutora pela UNICAMP, é professora do Departamento de Ciências da Linguagem da UFF e pesquisadora do CNPq. Desenvolve estudos sobre a história das idéias lingüísticas no Brasil e sobre o modo como os portugueses empreenderam o processo de colonização lingüística em diferentes regiões do planeta. Publicou pela Editora Pontes, em 2004, o livro Colonização lingüística: línguas, política e religião no Brasil (séculos XVI a XVIII) e nos Estados Unidos da América (século XVIII).
