Abstract

Analysis of contemporary fiction, in an attempt to explicit the transformations of literature in the context of social and cultural changes which characterize post-modernity. Identification of literary trends of thematization of the erasure of subjectivity in the hostile scenery of social exclusion. Search for a dialogue between literary writing in Brazil and in South Africa in the late 20th century, based on two specific works: João Gilberto Noll’s O quieto animal da esquina and J.M.Coetzee’s Life & times of Michael K.
