Construction of reference and meaning: a socio-cognitive and interactive activity

Abstract

In this paper, we deal with the concept of referential chain in the textual progression, and we discuss the problem of the referential and attributive usages in the process of the construction of the discourse- object. Based on a theory of referentiation of social-cognitive interaction basis, we show that the constitution of the referential chain is one of the most efficient mechanisms of the language to produce effects of meaning.

Cláudia Roncarati, UFF

Professora do Departamento de Letras Clássicas e Vernáculas da Universidade Federal Fluminense, pesquisadora I do CNPq e membro da equipe científica do Projeto Estudos Sobre os Usos da Língua (UFRJ/UFF/UnB). Organizou livros e tem publicado artigos em capítulos de livros e revistas especializadas. Atualmente, desenvolve pesquisa sobre variação sintática e processamento textual de base sócio-cognitivista, cujos resultados estão divulgados em artigos publicados e outros no prelo. É autora do livro O discurso do câncer (2004).

Sílvia Regina Neves da Silva, UFF / FIC

Mestre em Língua Portuguesa e doutoranda no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras da Universidade Federal Fluminense. É professora das Faculdades Integradas Campo Grandenses. Desenvolve pesquisas na área da referenciação e de progressão textual em gêneros textuais da fala e da escrita.
