Abstract

The paper approches the role of the subject in the poem, functioning as a presence which builds up the poetic voice. However, this subject is distinguished from the author, real being, based on the learning from Pessoa's heteronyms. Finally, it is the place of the poem as an object that absorbs the subjective elements of such voice, inscribing in language the self of the poem.

Author Biography

Nuno Júdice, Universidade Nova de Lisboa

Professor Associado da Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Doutor em Literaturas Românicas Comparadas com uma tese sobre «O espaço do conto no texto medieval». Tem livros de ensaio sobre literatura portuguesa e artigos de crítica e teoria literária em jornias e revistas. Publicou recentemente uma edição crítica dos «Infortúnios trágicos da Constante Florinda» de Gaspar Pires Rebelo (Teorema 2005) e um livro de ensaio sobre poesia «A viagem das palavras», Colibri, 2005). Também poeta, sua obra reúne cerca de trinta títulos, constituindo uma das vozes literárias mais representativas no panorama cultural português contemporâneo.
