Keywords:
Domingos Caldas Barbosa, Brazilian poetry, history and criticism, neoclassical poetryAbstract
This article proposes to rescue the importance of the 17th century poet Caldas Barbosa (1740?-1800) in the canon of the Luso-Brazilian literature and to reevaluate the critical opinion about his poetry, giving importance not only to Viola de Lereno but also to his encomiastic poems.
