Abstract

This article presents an overview of critical editions as a stepping tool for working with texts, in so far they result from an approach of the textual documentation and give elements for the development of other works. In the relationship between critical editions and archives not only do the former ones benefit from the latter ones, but editions themselves are the constitution of archives.

Júlio Castañon Guimarães, Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa

Doutor em Letras pela Universidade Federal do Rio de janeiro. Pesquisador do Setor de Filologia da Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa. Publicou Territórios/conjunções: poesia e prosa críticas de Murilo Mendes (Imago, 1993). Preparador da edição crítica de Crônica da casa assassinada de Lúcio Cardoso (Archivos, 1992). Organizador, com Vera Lins, do volume Impressões de um amador - Textos esparsos de crítica (1882-1909) de Gonzaga Duque (UFMG/FCRB, 2001).
