Abstract

O corpo e a cidade: aos cuidados de Afrodite discusses the role played in the contemporary imagery by the tension established between the urge of constructing senses for the human existence and the experience in an urban universe, apparently non-sensical that characterizes the mass consumption end the spectacle society. The debate starts from the reading of the novel A fúria do corpo (1981) of João Gilberto Noll and of the movie Os amantes da Pont Neuf (1986) of Leos Carax, as to investigate to what extent the erotic and aesthetic experience have driven readings and writings of a new sensibility.
