Abstract

This paper will discuss the role of language for collective identity formation in political and social institutions, such as traditional nations, or other modern institutions, particularly the socalled Francophony. It will be asked whether it is reasonable to consider language as an identity factor, and whether language representation would not transform it into a myth.
