Abstract

This essay tries to reflect on tradition and memory in the presente time. Seeking this goal, the borgian concept of "inventive memory" is taken as the starting point to discuss the role of the fictional data within the interdiscursive frame which brings forth the social memory. From this perspective, "invention" can be thought as an important element in the translation process able to establish relations among several cultures but without forcing a homogenized understanding of the world.

Olga Valeska, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG)

Mestre em Teoria da Literatura pela UFMG e doutoranda em Literatura Comparada pela mesma instituição. Estuda a literatura hispano-americana desde 1993 e sua tese de dou torado analisa a poética borgiana. Algumas publicações: Os Passos Perdidos: mundos em contraponto (Cadernos de pesquisa. Belo Horizonte, NAPq/FALE/UFMG, especial, agosto, 1995); O Nome e o Barro: um estudo sobre a questão do saber e da tradição na perspectiva benjaminiana (Boletim do CESP.
