THE PATHEMIC DIMENSION OF DISCOURSE: A DIALOGUE BETWEEN RHETORIC AND SEMIOTICS

Through the issue of the pathemic manipulation, the proposal of this article is to establish a dialogue between the precepts of Rhetoric and the current developments of French Semiotics. The aim is to broaden the perspective of analysis of passions in both fields: in a movement of semiotization of the Rethoric of Passions, establishing the necessarily discoursive properties of the pathemic configurations of the discourse in act; as well as in adopting a rethorical view of the Semiotic of Passions, pointing out the rethorical dimension of the enunciated affections.
