HEZBOLLAH, WAR AND GUERRILLA WARFARE:
REFLECTIONS BASED ON CLAUSEWITZ AND MAO ZEDONG

Hezbollah, the Lebanese armed group and political party, has attracted international attention for its unique role as an armed non-state actor that is present and active in the Lebanese state
and society. Considered by some to be a terrorist organization and by others to be a legitimate political actor, Hezbollah has stood out since the 1980s for its armed action against Israel. From this, the question arose: can the contributions of war theorists such as Clausewitz and
Mao Zedong help to understand Hezbollah's armed action? This essay
aims to analyze and reflect on Hezbollah's armed arm in the light of these two strategists, in order to identify the relevance and limits of their approaches. The research used primary and secondary sources, analyzed from a historical and descriptive approach. It was based on sources about the 2006 Hezbollah-Israel war, and the information and data collected was analyzed based on the theoretical-conceptual categories present in the original texts of Clausewitz's On War and Mao Zedong's Selected Military Writings. It was concluded that Hezbollah's armed actions can be analyzed using the contributions of these classic authors, especially when they are used in conjunction.
