Abstract

Based on the works War and Capital, by Alliez and
Lazzarato (2021), El Arsenal Barroco, by Kaldor (1986) and A Theory
of the Drone, by Chamayou (2015), in this article the relation between
capital, affects, and the technological aesthetic of weapons is explored.
The argue is that capital functions as a producer of pro-war affects and,
through these elements, engages the military on the capitalist need for
war conflicts. This occurs by the military attachment on the illusion of
high technological development of the arms systems as a synonym of
technological efficiency on the resolution of chaotic wars. First, the
discussion is about the capital along with the debate of what affects are
and the matter of aesthetics. Afterwards, intends a discussion about the
technological persuasion over the military through complex arms
systems such as the drones. Finally, the article is closed with a brief
case study about the USS Abraham Lincoln, one of the main US Navy’s
aircraft carriers still operating. With recent technological updates on its
structure, this warship emerge as an arm system whose aesthetic turns
it into a source of affect dynamics over the military.
