CLAUSEWITZ'S INFLUENCE ON THE STRATEGIES AND TACTICS OF REVOLUTION – AN ANALYSIS OF THE NAXALITE MOVEMENT

The objective of this article is to understand the principles that underlie revolutionary war, analyzing how Clausewitz's ideas influenced the political, strategic, and tactical conceptions of the
revolution. Following the Clausewitzian logic of war as a continuation of politics, revolutionary war will be analyzed as the violent manifestation of political relations between the ruling and subordinate classes, thus framing it as an intersection between the theory of war and the theory of class struggle. Furthermore, it is argued that revolutionary war is close to the concept of absolute war due to its objective of total annihilation of the class enemy. Finally, the Naxalite Movement in
India will be used as a case study to empirically demonstrate the ideas developed here. The choice of this case is justified by the prolonged nature of the insurgency, its large proportions, and the wide neglect of
its analysis in the specialized literature, in addition to the relevance of the conflict in the comprehension of contemporary revolutionary dynamics.
