Abstract

In this interview, journalist Ismario Rodríguez Pérez talks about the consolidation of independent Cuban media in the virtual environment. From his experience as audiovisual director of the independent media Periodismo de Barrio, Rodríguez Pérez refers to the conflict generated by the existence of media vehicles that operate outside the policies and legal norms that guide the operation of the media system in a one-party regime. The communicator also highlights the contributions of independent media to the exercise of the right to communicate, the practice of communicative citizenship and the democratization of communication in Cuba during the last decade (2014-2023).
