Abstract

This teaching case presents the challenge of the main executive of a company headquartered in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in view of the need of rendering new business strategies available against the crisis brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. The company Compuestos S.A, pictured in this study, acts within the automotive chain, mining and civil construction and, as most of the organizations in the different segments, it faces an unprecedented pandemic crisis. The executive has as priority to ensure the payment of his employees’ salaries, at the same time he seeks to ensure the business feasibility, taking into account the Argentine government initiatives, as well as its marketing vision. This is a real report, out of information obtained in an interview with the company´s executive. The case seeks to cause reflection about the decision-making in times of crisis, considering volatile issues proper to such situations as those presenting in the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus.
