Work represents a fundamental social institution, structuring the identity of the individual. The research presented here sought to understand the meanings of work for a group of working women and mothers belonging to the middle class. The research, with a qualitative approach, had semi-structured interviews with 22 women. The statements confirmed the fundamental importance of work as a structuring element of their lives, but also revealed dilemmas and difficulties still experienced. On the other hand, it was clear that they no longer conform to the role of "queen of the home", expressing the desire to fight for the consolidation of the achievements already achieved.
