This study aimed to measure the relationship between leader-member exchange and organizational identity in the perception of professors at a community university. The descriptive research had a quantitative approach, applying a self-completion questionnaire based on the model by Liden and Maslyn (1998) for the Leader-member Exchange Theory and the scale by Mael and Ashforth (1992) for Organizational Identity. Respondents were 282 professors from a community university in southern Brazil. The results showed that there is a relationship between exchange leadership and organizational identity, highlighting the leader's role in building organizational identity.
