Lagoinha B is - or should be - a housing complex formed by 66 houses, in the city of Lagoinha-SP. The works began in 2018. Less than a year later, the construction company responsible abandoned the works. It is not known where the five million nine hundred thousand reais destined for construction went. 66 families remain without the right to housing. The construction site has become what artist Robert Smithson would call "backwards ruins" because the structures began to collapse before they were even ready. This essay is part of Lucas Gervilla's doctoral research entitled Aesthetics of Abandonment: Abandoned Places, Ruins, Memory and Art, under development at the Institute of Arts at UNESP.
