Author Guidelines

Papers submitted for publication in Revista Poiésis are assessed by a body of independent reviewers, external to Universidade Federal Fluminense, through the double-blind review system, which means that the identities of the author(s) and reviewers are preserved throughout the review process. Preliminarily, each paper submitted to Revista Poiésis is evaluated by the Editors (Editor and Associate Editors) regarding the adherence of the paper to the academic scope of the journal, as well as its adequacy to scientific standards. If approved in the first stage, the work is sent to at least two (2) external reviewers, who issue opinions recommending acceptance, refusal or suggesting changes to the author(s). If there are significant disagreements between the reviewers' opinions, a third reviewer is requested to collaborate in order to substantiate the final editorial decision.

The Editors assume that the submission of the work to the publication in Revista Poiésis indicates its originality, that is, that it has not yet been published in any other journal. The Editors also request that authors indicate their ORCID Id (orcid.org) in the process of submitting their work to Revista Poiésis.

In the evaluation of the works submitted to Revista Poiésis, the following aspects are considered:
(1) adequacy to the scope of the journal;
(2) the originality of the reflection proposed by the work;
(3) the relevance of the issues addressed to the study area;
(4) updating and relevance of bibliographic resources;
(5) objectivity and clarity of expression and use of adequate technical-scientific language.

All submitted papers go through the same evaluation process until accepted for publication. Revista Poiésis editors work with the expectation that the whole process of evaluation, review, processing, and publication (when applicable) of the submissions to Revista Poiésis will be completed in a period between 12 and 15 weeks.

IMPORTANT: Revista Poiésis does not charge any submission or publication fees, or of any other nature in its processes, being an academic vehicle directed to the Brazilian and international scientific community.

Multiple Authorship Statement (for works with more than one author)
In the case of work with more than one author submitted to Revista Poiésis, the authors must include, in the end, a brief statement that the shared authorship is based on the fact that: (1) all authors actively participated in the discussions around the scope, concepts, eventual results and elaboration of the work; and (2) all authors reviewed and approved the final version of the work.
Note: The statement in question will not appear in the final version of the work when published in the journal.

Errata and retractions
The Editors clarify that, when necessary, Revista Poiésis will publish, as soon as possible, errata forwarded by the authors referring to papers published in the journal. Likewise, when necessary, the Editors will be responsible for the publication of eventual retractions.

Recognition of research funding
Revista Poiésis strongly recommends that authors make a mention and recognition of the funding agencies that have supported their research, even if through partial funding. To this end, it requests that a mention be made at the end of the body of work (before the Notes and References) or, alternatively, as the first note at the end of the text.

- Citations
Articles submitted to Revista Poiésis should make references to quotations in parentheses within the body of the text, right after the quotation itself. "Despite appearances, the deconstruction of logocentrism is not a psychoanalysis of philosophy. (DERRIDA, 1967, p. 293)

For long quotations (with more than three lines), use the same formatting as the body text (font and between lines), including only a different indentation of the rest of the text. In this case, use a 4 cm indentation from the left edge of the page.

- Ibid., op. cit., loc. cit. etc.
Poiésis Magazine does not use ibid., op. cit., loc. cit. and so on. All references to the same text should appear in exactly the same way, with the possible exception of the different page numbers indicated as source.
For other citation situations, use NBR 10520 (ABNT).

- Endnotes
Endnotes should be used for substantive observations, but not for the purpose of referring to the sources cited. End-of-text notes should appear separated from the body of the article text, immediately preceding the References (bibliographic).
Note: Poiésis Journal does not use footnotes. In this sense, authors are requested to use only endnotes.

- References
At the end of the text, right after the notes (if any), should be included in the section entitled References, with the complete list of references cited in the development of the text. Examples:

In confronting these and other issues related to allegations or evidence of non-compliance with the best ethical practices of research and scientific dissemination, the Revista Poiésis will meet whenever necessary its administrative council, composed of the Editor-in-Chief and the Associate Editors, to examine the issues brought to its attention and to take the necessary and applicable measures. These examination and debate processes will be made in order to preserve the identity of those involved.

Whenever necessary, the Editorial Board of Poiésis Journal will use the pages of the publication itself, always in its subsequent edition, for clarifications and/or retractions regarding ethical issues that have arisen and duly analyzed within the scope of the journal.
