Abstract

This text presents the transcripts of the interviews conducted with the artists Simone Moraes and Sonia Gomes for the documentary Sentidos do fio, a project of one documentary about the motivations and reflections carried out by contemporary Brazilian artists whose research touches the investigation with thread as materiality and concept in this art. The interviews present an overview of the artists' relations with textiles, the insertion of practices, originally restricted to domestic spaces, in the contemporary art scene, the deconstruction and undoing of uses and expansion of language.

Mariana de Souza Guimarães, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro

Mariana Guimarães, artista , educadora e pesquisadora . Vive e trabalha no Rio de Janeiro. Doutoranda em Artes Visuais pelo PPGAV/ EBA/UFRJ. Atualmente é docente de artes visuais do CAp UFRJ. Sua pesquisa está relacionada com a investigação do fio como linguagem e dispositivo de mediação na arte contemporânea, clínica e educação em diálogo com práticas ancestrais de tessitura e seus inúmeros desdobramentos políticos, estéticos, éticos e sociais, em intersecção com a casa e a mulher. Evângelo Leal Gasos, Universidade Veiga de Almeida

Mestre em Linguagens Visuais. Compõe corpo docente nos cursos de Cinema e Comunicação Social da Universidade Veiga de Almeida. Possui trabalhos em artes visuais com participações em exposições e Mostras coletivas de vídeo. Seus trabalhos mais recentes em direção audiovisual são: Estados da Arte (Canal Curta), Vale à Penha (Canal MultiRio), Cidades Possíveis (Canal Curta!) e o documentário longa mentragem Sentidos do Fio.
